 Case (a) in Mining Industry

Customer: Anshan Iron and Steel Co., the largest iron and steel company in China

Application: Tailings slurry

Old pumps: 12PNB-7, single-stage, centrifugal pumps

Problems:

  • Wet parts needed frequent change, forty days on average.

  • High energy consumption.

Solutions and Results:

 Pumps, well designed and made of more wear-resistant material, were the right solutions. To solve the problems, 300ZJ-I-A100 pumps made by Shijiazhuang Industrial Pump Factory were used to replace the old pumps. The results are:

  • The new pumps can last for more than five months on average.

  • Each pump saves more than 650,000kwh per year.

Case (b) in Mining Industry

Customer: Jinchuan Non-Ferrous Metals, Co.

Application: Ore slurry from ball mill

Old pumps: 8SPJ, single-stage, centrifugal pumps

Problems:

  • Wet parts had an average service life of twenty days.

  • Pumps had severe leakage from shaft seal and were low in efficiency.

Solutions and Results:

 The problems were with hydraulic design and construction material. To solve the problems, 200ZJ-I-A60 pumps with expeller made by Shijiazhuang Industrial Pump Factory were used to replace the old pumps. The results are:

  • The new pumps can last for more than six months on average.

  • Leaking problem has completely been solved.

  • Pump efficiency is now 75% compared with 60%.

 Case (a) in Coal-fired Power Plants 

Customer: The Heating and Power Plant of Tianjin

Application: Ash and Cinder Slurry

Old pumps: 10PH, single-stage, centrifugal pumps

Problems:

  • There were severe vibrations in pump operation, even pump anchor bolts could be broken.

Solutions and Results:

 The problem was due to high NPSHr of the old pumps. To solve the problem, 250ZJ-I-A75 pumps made by Shijiazhuang Industrial Pump Factory were used to replace the old pumps. By replacing the old pumps, not only the vibration problem has been solved, but also the pump service life has been improved to about twelve months from six months and the pump efficiency to 76% from 67%.

Case (b) in Coal-fired Power Plants

Customer: The Power Plant of Tanshan

Application: Ash and Cinder Slurry

Old pumps: MD450, two-stage, centrifugal pumps.

Problems:

  • Shaft seal, packing, could only last hours.

  • Wet parts could only last about one month.

Solutions and Results:

 To solve the problems, two 250ZJ-I-A75 pumps with expellers were operated in series to replace the old two-stage pumps. Now: 

  • The shaft seal problem has been solved and packing can last for over two months..

  • Wet parts can last for more than twelve months.
